The NFL Should Adopt This NeuroTracking Technology Immediately to Help Solve the Concussion Crisis

In the NFL, the risk of concussion is far greater than for almost any other sport.  While continued improvements to helmet design and stronger regulations against dangerous play may help limit such risk, one serious issue has yet to be resolved—the return to play. Immense pressure is put on injured players to return to the game as fast as possible, which may ultimately increase the risk of re-injury.  Should a player recovering from a concussion return to play too soon, re-injury to the brain could potentially result in permanent mental damage.  Thus, it is critical that players who are recovering from a concussion be cleared to play only when their brain has completely healed.  Although it may be difficult to...

The pursuit of NCAA compliance (and efforts to identify and leverage potential loopholes, police potential infractions and avoid potential downfall), the business of scouting and recruiting (and the dedication to improve those operations), off-season conditioning and training (and the advances to maximize health in preparation for a game working in direct opposition of it): all of these “off-season” endeavors and more have turned college football into a 365-day challenge.

Analyzing Samsung’s Galaxy Gear for the Sports and Fitness Fan

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the “smart watch revolution”.  Apple appears to have an iWatch in the works and we all know after today’s announcement that Samsung is releasing its own version of a smart watch: Samsung Galaxy Gear.

English Premier League Beats (Then Leads) NFL to Technology Advances

The English Premier League will be installing Hawk-Eye technology for this season. (AP/Shuji Kajiyama) The Atlantic, for many, is an ocean… the world’s second-biggest body of water, the resting place of the Titanic, and the ocean that does NOT serve as home for Sharknado. For fans of sport, the Atlantic represents the most definitive border in international sports culture. To the left, the game of football is played by behemoth-sized men in pads and helmets hoping to carry an oblong ball into one end of the field or the other to earn six points (seven after the point after). To the right, the game of football is played by strict adherence to the name: with feet.
