Entertaining fans at the game with in-game information is the new necessity among NBA teams. The game no longer is satisfactory with the improved at-home experience as well as rising costs of attending in a challenging economy.

The Utah Jazz clearly understand this.

Jazz fans are enjoying a new mobile experience during this NBA season. Following the launch of the new Utah Jazz official mobile application, the Jazz now provide fans with the information needed to enhance their experiences during games.

Leveraging Sporting Innovations FAN360 platform, Jazz fans are now among the most digitally connected in the world.

They now have access to live interactive game stats, dynamic shot charts, detailed player stats, unique Jazz photos and videos, and live audio streaming. This mobile experience creates new ways for fans to interact with the team, while providing the Jazz with invaluable data and intelligence to produce actionable insights for tailored sales and marketing.

The FAN360 platform is a software ecosystem developed by Kansas City-based Sporting Innovations. They have been a leader in fan experience technology. FAN360 changes the game in how sports teams utilize data and technology to enhance the fan experience, offering the ability to deliver customized experiences that result in increased loyalty. It is a dynamic solution designed specifically for sports and built by sports industry veterans.

The Utah Jazz’s new official app was built on the FAN360 Uphoria mobile framework and provides fans with content before, during and after the game.

It’s a complete fan companion available on an Apple or Android mobile device. Jazz fans are able to access features such as play-by-play, team line-ups, venue information, and more on their mobile devices. They have focused on delivering relevant and unique experiences through Uphoria, which has enabled the Jazz to improve the value proposition for its fans and gain unique insights into fan behavior.

The Jazz are the first NBA organization to offer this technology to fans, and continues to advance the expectation of fan experience and value in the NBA.

“Sporting Innovations has been the ideal partner to deliver the technological expertise needed to reach our objectives. Its FAN360 platform and approach to the mobile experience has been groundbreaking in its application to a professional sports franchise.” said Craig Sanders, senior vice president of marketing, Miller Sports Properties. “Our fans are the true benefactors because the capabilities have been taken to a new level of service, information and entertainment.”

Utah has already seen strong early adoption of the mobile application, as it was recently featured in the Top 5 Free Sports Apps in Google Play. Fans can download the official Utah Jazz app through iTunes and the App Store, or get it on Google Play.

The decision to go with FAN360 is part of a larger strategic initiative by the Jazz to utilize technology and innovation to bolster experiences for their loyal fans. FAN360 joins a new digital ecosystem alongside high definition video boards, digital display ribbons, in-stadium Distributed Antenna System (DAS), and a progressive organizational approach to win the battle of the seat vs. the couch.

The solution also features FAN360 Dimension, a suite of web-based sports business tools. Data generated through the FAN360 platform about fans and their behaviors is populated within Dimension, which organizes the information to provide dynamic views about the Jazz’s fan base. It creates micro-segmented Smart Groups of fans with similar profile attributes, and produces actionable insights for personalized sales and marketing experiences, including the ability to offer tickets, customized rewards, offers, and other incentives to influence behavior.

“Our direct experience in the sports industry provides us with a unique perspective that helps teams like the Jazz determine the best strategic approach for utilizing advanced technology to enhance the fan experience,” said Asim Pasha, managing partner of Sporting Innovations. “The response from Jazz fans following the launch has been tremendous. We have just scratched the surface here though. There is much more to come in future releases.”

The in-game experience for teams will soon be commonplace and it is exciting to see teams like the Jazz start to implement this technology to benefit their fans in-stadium enjoyment.

We will enjoy tracking their progress as well as checking to see if the rest of the league begins to follow suit.
