YouTube, or David in this instance, is preparing for its battle of Super Bowl supremacy against the Goliath known as the National Football League. YouTube has announced that it plans to hold its own halftime show during the Super Bowl that will be streamed live on the their AdBlitz channel.

It will feature the bigger name, YouTube creators and musicians, as the likes of Harley Morenstein from EpicMealTime, Freddie Wong, Rhett and Link, Toby Turner, and more, according to YouTube’s Blog. In all, the YouTube creators that will be involved in the halftime show have a combined base of over 60 million subscribers.

The NFL, of course, still has the rights to the football game, so YouTube will only be present during halftime and will not be offering game highlights or live-streaming of the game, itself.

With filming to be done in Los Angeles, the YouTube halftime show plans to have “goofy” spots and musical performance to compete with the NFL’s halftime show featuring Lenny Kravitz and Katy Perry.

Additionally, YouTube’s Super Bowl AdBlitz channel will allow viewers to watch snippets of upcoming ads and then let fans vote on the best commercials after the game.

The Super Bowl has become the holy grail of advertisements, with viewers reaching over 100 million each year, according to Business Insider. It was inevitable that it would only be a matter of time before someone tried to take a piece of the NFL’s Super Bowl pie. Just hope that there will be some football, still, to watch while this advertising wars continue.
