SPORTS TANK IS BACK FOR ANOTHER YEAR AIMING TO FUND THE DREAMS OF SPORTS ENTREPRENEURS
Charlotte, NC. – January 13, 2016: On April 1st, 2016, TPG Sports Group will be hosting the second annual Sports Tank. Held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC, 10 sports-specific startup companies will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of five strategic venture capitalists. Startup founders will have three minutes to present their company, and 10 minutes to answer questions and negotiate a deal on stage.
Following the inaugural event in 2015, Sports Tank returns to Charlotte in 2016 looking for the 10 brightest entrepreneurs in sports. Additionally, one student-led sports startup business will be selected to present in front of the investors. These 11 companies will have the opportunity to receive funding they need to accelerate the growth of their business.
Each of the 11 selected companies will be provided with an all-expenses-paid trip to Charlotte for the event. The companies will receive airfare, hotel and transportation accommodations if chosen to present at Sports Tank.
“By providing travel expenses,” says Charlie Wend, Vice President of TPG Sports Group, “our goal is to afford more opportunities to entrepreneurs, as well as bring the very best ideas and technology to Charlotte for Sports Tank.”
In addition to our panel of five investors, Sports Tank features a unique twist with the inclusion of a Sports Advisory Panel. This panel will be made up of some of the most prominent executives in the sports industry, including representatives from NBA & NFL teams. These individuals will provide real-time feedback, advice and industry insights to the companies presenting. This, combined with strategic investors, makes Sports Tank a “can’t miss” opportunity for entrepreneurs in the sports industry.
The Sports Advisory Panel includes:
Pete Philo – Director of International Scouting, Indiana Pacers
Chrystal Rowe – Director of Ticketing, Carolina Panthers
Rich Sheubrooks – Retired Nike & NBA Executive
Megan Hughes – VP of Client Services, Genesco Sports Enterprises
*Additional panelists to be announced
