Last week STATS LLC announced that they are partnering with Virtually Live in order to create a brand new virtual reality experience. STATS LLC is a sports technology company that records and analyzes athlete performance data. Virtually Live, on the other hand, helps sports fans experience live sporting events through virtual reality in order to create an immersive and interactive viewing experience. The partnership was tested last week during three soccer games in the Scottish League.

The experience will be presented to the viewer with live STATS SportVU data being transposed into an immersive virtual replica of the venue. The Virtually Live platform delivers the positions and motions of the tracked players in real-time. Virtually Live also enables users to enter the virtual reality world and socially interact with friends, as well as give fans the opportunity to choose different perspectives on the field and feel the authentic in-stadium atmosphere.
Virtually Live is excited about the opportunity to work with one of the biggest sports technology companies in the world. Tom Impallomeni, CEO of Virtually Live, explained that, “We are delighted to be working with STATS to bring sports fans never-before-seen experiences. STATS’ innovative SportVU data enables a wealth of in-depth insights on sports games, and our partnership is giving fans new perspectives that will further enhance their viewing experiences.” STATS is also excited to be getting their STATS SportVU data more industry exposure. Roy Clements, Managing Director, Media and Gaming, Europe at STATS, said that, “Delivering real-time X, Y positioning, STATS VU tracking data can be used to support engaging digital sports experiences. Its integration with virtual reality represents an important new phase in its development.”
This big announcement for STATS is another example of the impact virtual reality is having on the sports technology industry. Virtual reality continues to expand with future use in tennis, soccer, and March Madness. This endeavor between STATS and Virtually Live differs because it is an integration between live real time sports data with a virtual reality experience. It is expanding on the array of products and services provided by STATS by offering the STATS VU tracking data as part of a live virtual reality event made possible by Virtually Live.
