Real Madrid, the most-liked sports team on Facebook with 105 million thumbs up, has launched a unique new show on the social network that is available on the new Watch video platform in the U.S. and for fans worldwide on the Hala Madrid Show Page.
Hala Madrid is an eight-episode series that takes fans behind the scenes with Real Madrid and gives them literally a 360-degree view of the organization as the video was shot in 2016 in partnership with GoPro. Dozens of GoPro cameras were set up at the team’s training facilities to provide a look into the club’s connection with its city, fans and players including Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 122 million likes to his own Facebook page.
In the first episode, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane even notes to his players that they will be training with the cameras in mind.
The first episode was posted Monday, and new episodes will be available Saturdays starting Sept. 9. They’re all narrated by actor Orlando Bloom.
“With this new show on Watch, our passionate community of Real Madrid fans on Facebook will have an opportunity to view something very special,” Rafael de los Santos, Global Digital Director for Real Madrid, said in a statement “We believe this series will not only resonate with these Real Madrid fans, but will also be interesting to the millions of people around the world who consume content on Facebook.”
Real Madrid for the past year has sought to engage its massive fan following on Facebook, taking its Real Madrid TV content to Facebook Live.
And it has paid off.
Earlier this month when the club broadcast its match against ACF Fiorentina on Facebook Live, the game was viewed over 4.3 million times.
For Facebook’s Watch, which airs episodic content to create a TV-like experience, it has collected sports shows involving Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, LaVar and Lonzo Ball’s basketball-playing family, the Golden State Warriors, the World Surf League, the WNBA and Whistle Sports.
