In the new Pizza Hut commercial, Grant Hill shows viewers just how easy ordering a $7.99 pizza can be. First, the National College Basketball Hall of Fame player shows how to order on a phone and a desktop. But then, he orders from Pizza Hut using his shoes. Yes, really.
Pizza Hut recently released the “Pie Tops” shoes in time for March Madness. According to Adweek, the limited edition high tops are conceptualized by ad agency Droga5 and made by Dominic Chambrone or “The Shoe Surgeon,” allowing wearers to have a pizza delivered based on his or her geolocation. When a wearer presses a special button on the tongue of the shoe and connects with the Pie Tops app, a pizza can be ordered.
“This is one of those ideas that as soon as we saw it, we wanted to buy it,” David Daniels, Vice President of Media & Advertising, at Pizza Hut, told Adweek. “It hit everything we wanted to communicate in this window in a fun, really relevant way. And it was beautifully tied to the thematic of the tournament and the season.”

Only 64 pairs of the shoes were made (corresponding with the 64-team March Madness field of teams in the second round), and they will be given out to mostly media members and influencers, according to Adweek, which reported a few Pizza Hut regulars are likely to score a pair.
