The NBA has teamed up with software and mobile app company YinzCam to redesign 22 of the league’s team apps.  These new apps will be available for iOS and Android, and they will have a host of new features and improvements.

YinzCam will work to generally streamline the 22 team apps that they are redesigning, while adding features such as automated location-based content, ‘watch’ and ‘listen’ links, Twitter Fabric, seat upgrades, and even in-seat delivery for fans at the game.

What will initially stand out to fans is the location-based customization of the app.  While all of the app’s content will always be available and accessible, the homepage will display information based on current location, making for a more personalized and dynamic experience.

The ‘watch’ and ‘listen’ features of the apps will link users to other websites on which they can watch or listen to live games.  The platforms used will be either regional broadcasts, the WatchESPN or WatchTNT apps (for nationally televised games), or NBA League Pass (which streams through the NBA official app).

Twitter will also be present on the new apps through its mobile development platform, Fabric.  This means that fans who are signed into Twitter on their phones will be able to perform all of Twitter’s basic functions directly from the app.  Additionally, fans who do not have a Twitter (or are not signed in) will still be able to see the app’s Twitter feed.

The coolest features of the app, however, seem to be the seat upgrade and in-seat delivery features.  Interestingly, the seat upgrades will be available to people who are actually at the games, meaning that you could potentially upgrade your seat after you get to the arena.  Meanwhile, the delivery feature looks like it will allow these 22 teams to attain the peak of in-game convenience.

This multi-year partnership will make YinzCam the Official Team and Arena Mobile App Developer of the NBA, while the NBA will have equity in YinzCam.
