Myontec, a sportswear company, recently announced its Mbody intelligent sportswear is now available to general consumers. The company also claimed that the technology is perfectly suited for use in athletic training for basketball players. Already used by the Los Angeles Lakers, and many other professional athletes, for years, the technology is now being made available to fitness enthusiasts and athletes the world over for a fraction of the price.
Mbody shorts use bio-signal sensors to measure muscular activity, monitor muscle load, and balance ratio and heart cadence allowing athletes to observe how physical activity impacts their body. The information gathered from the technology can help improve training and skills, as well as prevent future injuries.

“Muscle balance and proper activation are the keys to preventing serious injury,” says Marko Yrjovuori, sports therapist for the Los Angeles Lakers. “While professional trainers are aware of how to monitor readiness and recovery, those new to the game end up injured or underperforming without this knowledge. Myontec’s Mbody shorts not only help me train my athletes, but are easy enough to use for even the most novice sports enthusiast.”
Mbody shorts will also be accompanied by the Mbody Coach, which transforms the technology in the shorts into a real-time professional trainer. The Mbody Coach uses audio cues to inform athletes on muscle performance and balance, injury risks, and other training instructions. Myontec’s products are currently used by universities, clinics, and professional athletes all over the world, and will soon be seen in use by fitness conscience people everywhere.
