Major League Lacrosse, Twitter To Live Stream ‘MLL Game Of The Week’ For 2017 Season

Throughout the 2017 season, Major League Lacrosse will now be live streaming its MLL Game of the Week” on Twitter. The broadcast will be a simulcast of games already appearing on Lax Sports Network, a digital video network and subscription service.

In March, the National Lacrosse League and Twitter also inked a two-year exclusive streaming rights partnership for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Starting Saturday, the New York Lizards hosting the Denver Outlaws at 6 p.m. ET kicks off the MLL programming schedule on Twitter, which will include 15 regular season games and two postseason contests for the outdoor professional lacrosse league. The global live stream will be available for free to logged-in and logged-out users on the social platform and connected devices.

“Having MLL games streamed live on Twitter is a major step towards improving the accessibility of our great game,” MLL Commissioner David Gross said in a statement. “We have made a concerted effort in recent years to cater to an audience that relies more and more on digital streaming, and this partnership is the next phase of that effort. We are thrilled to be working with Twitter this season.”

Added Twitter Chief Operating Officer Anthony Noto in a statement: “The popularity of lacrosse continues to grow and there is an appetite for more live video from die-hard fans on Twitter. Collaborating with MLL brings more exciting, fast-paced games to lacrosse fans right on Twitter where the conversation is already happening.”

The Lax Sports Network will provide highlights of each live streamed game to be distributed across Twitter’s Amplify program. Additionally, the digital network will produce a pre-game and post-game show for all 17 games streamed on Twitter.
