What if we could see Dr. J amaze the world with his gravity defying lay-up from his perspective? Or Michael Jordan’s crossover on Byron Russell at eye level for the game-winner in the NBA Finals? Even Vince Carter soaring over you from 7-footer Frederic Weis’ perspective in the 2000 Olympics?

FirstV1sion, a Spain-based company has developed a jersey cam for professional sports, and has now partnered with the Euroleague. FirstV1sion has developed there jersey cams for referees to wear in a “Game of the Week” between two historic franchises, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, that will be broadcasted to more than 150 countries, according to Euroleague.

First V1sion has tested the cameras with Spanish football teams and Barcelona’s basketball team to see if any discomfort or unnatural movements would come as cause of wearing these jersey cams.

FC Barcelona guard Edwin Jackson said, “I keep playing my game, it is not heavy. It is pretty convenient. It can provide the fans different images and give a closer look at the game for the fans and even for the players.”

Sports are always looking to get fans more immersed in the game, and this definitely seems to be a step in the right direction. The ability to see the look on player’s faces as games come down to clutch moments or first person perspective of unreal highlight plays will be game-changing. Now, kids growing up, people with disabilities, or adults who love to watch the game can be a part of their favorite team and athlete’s performance.

The things they may not be able to do, they can now watch as if there did it themselves.

Aside from the adjustment to watching sports from that view that left, myself, a little nauseated, I believe this will make its way to the United States soon.

Who wouldn’t want to see a spectacular hit in football, or a home run that clears the stadium from an athlete’s perspective?

Jose A. Ildefonso, FirstV1sion’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “Because all fans wants to feel like their idols on the court, FirstVision has a great future ahead.”
