GameOn, Sky Sports Partner To Bring Chatbot To English Premier League Coverage

GameOn, a mobile engagement platform helping premium content providers improve the fan experience, has partnered with Sky Sports to bring Soccer Saturday Chatbot to its English Premier League.

“The English Premier League joining the GameOn community of leagues and premium content providers is a great testament to our platform’s purpose,” Alex Beckman, Founder and CEO of GameOn, said in a statement. “This common thread of chat engagement and AI bots are huge opportunities for us in some of the largest leagues in the world. Chatbots are changing the media dynamic, advertising model, and the fan experience overall — and we’re excited to help bring shape to the category.”

With this partnership, real-time commentary by Jeff Stelling, host of the Gillette Soccer Saturdayshow, will be featured as well as his responses to requests from fans about news, standings, game updates and more.

The questions for Stelling be asked through fans’ social media platforms such as Facebook Messenger, Slack, Skype and Telegram.

The purpose for this is to show Stelling’s personality which then creates fun and engagement for fans.

The new partnership will also allow fans to have access to content beyond Soccer Saturday with content at home, on the go or through social channels.

The English Premier League will also be available on the GameOn app, delivering news, score feeds and video highlights in addition to a group to chat with other fans.

The user experience is broken up into three pars: customization, push content and pull content.

Tips will be given on how to navigate the bot and users will have the option to follow their favorite teams. Based on who they select, users will be sent news each morning and evening as well as live updates during games.

Sky Sports is the latest to joint GameOn, following Sports Illustrated x GameOn Olympics and NFL bots launching earlier this year.

“We’re always looking for new and innovative methods to better connect with fans and deliver more entertaining ways for our audience to enjoy the sports they love,” David Gibbs, Digital Director for Sky Sports and Sky News, said in a statement. “Working with GameOn allows us to try something different with Chatbots and introduce a new experience that’s consistent with the Sky Sports tone and feel that fans enjoy.”
