  • Team Liquid Partners With HUYA on Streaming in China: Live Twitch streams from esports organization Team Liquid will now appear live in China through a partnership with Chinese streaming platform HUYA. Select players from Team Liquid’s League of Legends, CS:GO, Apex Legends, and PUBG rosters will stream on HUYA through Restream.io, a back-end system that allows gamers to re-stream on multiple broadcasting platforms simultaneously. Team Liquid is owned by Axiomatic, which has noted investors such as NBA legend Michael Jordan, Golden State Warriors owner Peter Guber, and Washington Wizards owner Ted Leonsis.
  • OurCrowd Funding Platform Seeks Advice From Deshaun Watson: Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson traveled to Israel last week to discuss the Israeli sports technology scene in a meeting with Jon Medved, CEO of equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd. According to the Jerusalem Post, Medved met with Watson to seek his input on how OurCrowd could better develop and invest in athlete performance enhancing technology. OurCrowd is building a fund to support sports technology innovation, according to the Post. Watson was in Israel with his trainer and a documentary film crew, on a trip sponsored by America’s Voices in Israel, an organization that works to build the country’s image in the U.S.
  • Esports Technology Alliance Founded by Tencent, Intel, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm: Tencent has formed the Esports Technology Alliance alongside founding partners Intel, Qualcomm, and computer processor company NVIDIA. The alliance was announced at the Tencent Global Esports Annual Summit held in Hainan, China last Thursday. It is dedicated to improving the hardware and broadcast technology for esports in China. According to a report from Tencent, there are over 350 million esports users in the country.
  • Canyon-SRAM Cycling Team Adds NormaTec Recovery Devices:  The Canyon-SRAM UCI Women’s World Tour pro cycling team has announced a partnership with recovery technology provider NormaTec. Canyon-SRAM riders are using NormaTec’s compressed-air massage products in-between training and races in order to improve the recovery of muscles in both their legs and hips. According to a NormaTec press release, the company’s devices are used by 97 percent of pro teams in the U.S.
