As the first app of its kind, Caddio is enhancing the experience of golfers everywhere by using crowdsourcing. The newly developed app allows users to post golf tips about any hole on a golf course they’ve played on.
The app allows users to create a Caddio account or conveniently log in through their Facebook or Google+ account. Before the homepage opens, a screen appears that navigates users through what each button does to make the app more convenient to manage.
The main page of the app shows tips from golfers who have played on courses within your area. Users have the option of adjusting the comments to see either when the user posted them or how far away the golf course they are commenting on is located.
Clicking on each comment shows the user’s name, user name, the name of the golf course they played, which hole they are commenting on, the date and time of the post, their comment, the weather conditions on the course, and a satellite image of the hole. Users have the ability to rate the comment and share it via social media sites, text message, or e-mail.
The site allows anyone with an account to provide tips on different holes of golf courses on the app. Users can also save their tips as drafts and edit them in the future under the ‘My Draft Tips’ tab. Another tab titled ‘Home Course’ allows users to pick the golf course they most frequently visit and save it as their default course.
Another tab titled ‘My Profile’ allows users to edit their profile. Features include a user name, a picture, a bio, and different facts about yourself relating to golf such as how often you play and when you first began to golf. Another tab that gives a personal touch to the app is the ‘My Bag’ tab, which allows users to display which clubs they use.
Another great feature about this app that encourages users to participate on a different level than submitting golfing tips is that every so often the app asks for feedback. Caddio encourages users to submit what they like and dislike about the app so the developers can improve it in the future and help golfers in the process.
