1. What is your elevator pitch?

Beast Sensor is a strength wearable that is designed to optimize athletic performance by tracking each lift performed at the gym. Developed by strength coaches and aerospace engineers, the sensor is magnetic and can be attached to barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells or gym machines and to the body itself for performing free weight exercises.

The device uses complex algorithms to measure velocity/performance, tracking and providing recommendations via a companion smartphone app so that users can get the best out of their workouts.

2. Problem & Solution

First and foremost, wearable fitness gadgets must be useful and deliver actionable metrics to help users train better, which in a recent study has shown, is difficult to achieve with heart rate trackers. At the same time, while heart rate is a good indicator of an exercise session’s effectiveness, there are other methods of tracking a workout that are equally effective. Velocity Based Training (VBT) has been used by strength coaches and athletes for years as a way to precisely plan and monitor performance during a weightlifting session. VBT uses the speed of each lift as the key indicator for measuring the effectiveness of a workout.

For the health conscious techie or fitness enthusiasts, there are more options beyond heart rate trackers to measure key metrics. Beast Sensor is a great alternative for those interested in weightlifting and full body training as it monitors speed, strength and power—all important factors when decoding a workout. Founded by aerospace engineers and athletes, Beast has been developing its technology with accuracy as the goal since its inception, and is on the path to perfection. The Beast Sensor measures velocity of each lift in real-time, also taking into consideration psychological and physiological factors that can impact one’s workout, while simultaneously offering recommendations on the companion smartphone app to empower athletes to make the most of out of each session.
