Anderson Ends Tiafoe's Triple-Duty Shift

Juan Martin del Potro might be the favourite to take home the Miami Open presented by Itau title this weekend. But don't sleep on Kevin Anderson, who's having one of the best starts to 2018 of anyone on the ATP World Tour. The South African improved to 17-4 on Tuesday, beating #NextGenATP American Frances Tiafoe 7-6(3), 6-4 to make his fifth quarter-final of the season. Anderson hit 22 winners and broke the 20-year-old home favourite three times.    Watch Full Match Replays Tiafoe was playing, technically, for the third time on Tuesday. His third-round match against Tomas Berdych was suspended because of rain at 2:13 a.m. Tuesday, with Tiafoe leading the 2010 finalist 6-7(2), 6-2, 5-4. They returned to the...

Fourteen In A Row For Delpo

Another day, another win for Juan Martin del Potro.  The World No. 6 continued his run of excellent form on Tuesday at the Miami Open presented by Itau, as he overcame a 1-4 deficit to defeat No. 22 seed Filip Krajinovic 6-4, 6-2 for his 14th consecutive victory as he pursues back-to-back-to-back titles.  "I will try to keep going and see how far I can go," Del Potro said.  The Indian Wells and Acapulco champion extends his career-best start to 20-3, as he moves to within three matches of the 'Sunshine Double' — winning the first two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events of the season in the same year. Nobody on the ATP World Tour has won more matches...

Confidence Served: Isner Ousts Cilic

American John Isner arrived at Crandon Park on a three-match losing streak, with just two wins on the season. But no matter what happens the rest of the tournament, the No. 14 seed will leave the site with a renewed sense of confidence —beating the World No. 3 can do that. Isner did not face a break point in ousting second seed Marin Cilic 7-6(0), 6-3 in 87 minutes at the Miami Open presented by Itau Tuesday, his third win of this event alone. "I was very happy with how I played, especially with how I served," Isner said. "That's certainly the best I've served all year... today I served exceptionally well and that's what kept me in the match...

Tiafoe Or Berdych Set For Double Duty In Miami

Tomas Berdych or Frances Tiafoe will need to play two matches on Tuesday at the Miami Open presented by Itau after their third-round clash was suspended due to heavy rain at 2:13 a.m. local time. Tiafoe is leading 10th seed and 2010 finalist Berdych 6-7(2), 6-2, 5-4. Berdych got off to a 3-0 lead, but American Tiafoe recovered and at 4-4, 40/0, rain suspended play on Grandstand. A brief rain shower delayed play early in the third set, which resulted in service breaks in the third and fourth games. After two hours and 36 minutes of action, bad weather intervened once again. Berdych or Tiafoe will resume their match on Grandstand mid-afternoon Tuesday, prior to contesting a fourth-round encounter against...

Bryans Power Into Miami Quarters

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan powered into the Miami Open quarter-finals Monday with an emphatic 6-2, 6-1 win over Argentines Leonardo Mayer and Diego Schwartzman. Continuing the form that took them to the BNP Paribas Open final earlier this month, the Bryans will next meet Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus, who defeated Americans Donald Young and John Isner 7-5, 6-3. The Bryans have won a record 114 team titles, but have not tasted success since winning Atlanta last July. In the only other doubles match Monday on Key Biscayne, Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff upset fifth seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau 6-7(5), 6-4, 10-7. McLachlan and Struff are teaming for the first time since their unexpected run to the...
