In parks, local gyms, and driveway hoops all around the country, you will find basketball players of all ages trying to elevate their game, and now after over three years of development it is possible to statistically track the progress of your shooting skills in real time.

The Hoop Tracker Basketball Shot Tracking Smartwatch, developed by Jason Duke and Aiello Designs, makes your everyday basketball practice a fun, interactive practice session that conveniently relays important information right to the users wrist.

With the Hoop Tracker Smartwatch, one can view real-time statistics of their shooting session, including shot percentage from different spots on the court, total time played, consecutive made/missed shots, and calories burned. This information syncs up directly to a smartphone and a computer, so the user can analyze their practice after they are done shooting hoops.

The goal of the watch is to improve the efficiency of a player’s time spent on the court. Players can recognize their statistical weaknesses in their shooting and spend more time on those certain weak spots on the court. The creators also point out that this program can be used by coaches to create specialized workouts for players based on the results from the watch.

The watch is able to keep real-time statistics by receiving information from an included sensor attached to the rim, demonstrated in the video on their Kickstarter page. The creators also include fun games to allow users to keep their practices interesting. Besides a normal shoot-around, players can challenge themselves in games like three-point contest, free throw contest, and score 100 points.

The Hoop Tracker Smartwatch weighs only 2.3 ounces; and is intended to be worn on the user’s non-shooting wrist to avoid altering the user’s shot. The watch can hold up to ten shooting sessions’ worth of memory and the battery life is seven hours. The watch is planned to retail for approximately $200, but can be pre-ordered right now for $150. In addition to all of its services, the watch does still function as a normal wristwatch, equipped with a timer and the time of day.
