Atlanta Braves v San Francisco GiantsIf you’re a baseball fan watching the World Series, you do not have to worry about the chance of rain over the weekend in San Francisco because the custom designed SubAir System installed at AT&T Park will keep the field dry!

What is interesting about the SubAir technology is that it allowed for the stadium structure, itself, to be left untouched as it is housed beneath the stadium seating. This is thanks to the Sport Elite System that controls soil moisture, temperature, and salinity, which conveniently keeps the field dry by quickly and easily removing excess moisture caused by rain.

The SubAir system recognizes when there is a change in the soil by utilizing wireless sensors; and when it does, it automatically adjusts to maintain the field’s dryness and uses the system’s vacuum mode to remove the water.

“The return on the investment is the opportunity to protect a baseball game from losing the gate and an opportunity to host more events because we can recover quicker and not affect the baseball field,” emphasized Greg Elliot, Director of Field Operations at AT&T Park, about the importance of the technology.

The technology is obviously impressive; and it literally does more than keep the field dry, it also makes baseball fans happy that they can watch the World Series without any delays or suspect field conditions for players.
