The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), along with Perform, one of the world’s leading digital sports content groups, announced the appointment of two individuals to lead WTA Media, a broadcast production and media distribution partnership. John Learing, a highly respected broadcast executive in sports with over 20 years of experience, and Bruno Rocha, Peform’s current Senior Vice President of Distribution and Client Service in North America, were named as Managing Director and Execute Vice President respectively.

After securing the largest live media and productions deal in women’s sports history, the two companies created WTA media to mark their first step in the developing partnership since the half billion dollar deal. This will also be the first time that all WTA tournaments will be aggregated, centralized, and delivered under one media rights owners.

Starting in 2017, fans will also be able to watch all main draw single matches, over 2,000 of them, and doubles semi-finals and finals matches as they will all be broadcasted. The media outlet created by Perform and the WTA will increase news content by 40 percent and deliver magazine shows and add a lot more off-court content.

Chairman of WTA & CEO Stacey Allaster was excited about what this means for their fans and said, “From 2017, for the first time ever, fans around the globe will be able to access 2000 main draw singles matches and consistently follow their national heroes and favorite players all season, on and off court.  This is game-changing for our sport and very exciting for our fans.” Already a leader in the women’s sports industry, WTA looks to take another step to enhance the fan experience by using Perform to handle their digital content.
