Wells Fargo And Game Plan Launch eLearning Financial Program For Student Athletes

In today’s educational system, institutions are putting a much bigger emphasis on student athletes and their efforts in successfully integrating themselves into the professional world. The notion that these individuals only prioritize their performances in the heat of a sports competition has gone out the window, giving student athletes more room for employers to potentially consider their overall skills.

This is why companies like Game Plan have come together to combine their knowledge and resources to create a software solution that positions the student athlete experiences with the same goals athletic departments, athletes, and employers have. Essentially, Game Plan’s sponsored eLearning programs, personality assessments, and analytics dashboard all cohesively come together to provide the building blocks for student athletes to transition into the business world.

“The goal of Game Plan is to provide student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed in an easy, accessible way that doesn’t add any additional strain to an athlete’s’ already demanding schedule,” said Vin McCaffrey, Founder and CEO of Game Plan. “Game Plan is allowing universities to provide students with academic and career-planning resources, enabling advisors to track performance and participation, and connecting employers to graduates.”

Game Plan’s mission is simply to help student-athletes become the people they aspire to be. Throughout their inception, they have worked closely with college athletic departments at all NCAA division schools to address the challenges that student-athletes and college athletic departments face getting student athletes efficiently prepared for the real world.

The technology involved is also not difficult to interpret either. Financial information is gathered onto a single cloud-based platform, and users can utilize their collected data to build deeper relationships with national employers. The user interface boasts an intuitive dashboard to help users easily analyze in-depth reporting and track engagement and performance, laying the foundation for a more engaging, relevant student-athlete experience.

“The evolution of our brand identity highlights Game Plan as a proven, progressive, technology company and fits with our vision of being a thought leader in the industry by providing an all-in-one student athlete development platform,” continued McCaffrey.

Game Plan needs industry expertise in order to kick off this platform, so they have decided to team with Wells Fargo to ensure this platform is viable to the lay user. Game Plan has created an eLearning module series that mirrors the lesson plans of the Hands On Banking program Wells Fargo implemented back in 2003. This platform was successful in getting users to visit their site to gain access to interactive activities, including worksheets, planning tips, classroom activities, and other resources.

“College is a hard transition for any student – especially for athletes who are expected to juggle practices, meetings and classes – all while trying to figure out how to live away from home for the first time,” said Darlene Goins, Senior Vice President and Head of Hands On Banking at Wells Fargo.  “Through this innovative relationship with Game Plan, it’s our goal to meet student-athletes where they are – in an easy-to-access platform that they are already familiar with – where we can help them build financial capabilities and habits that will start them on a successful financial journey in a positive, productive way.”

This is a free, non-commercial program that teaches student athletes in all stages of life the basics of responsible money management. With more than twenty on-demand topics addressing the various categories of financial education, getting users to improve their budget creating skills, investment knowledge, and money management experience will hopefully lead to a generation of student athletes better prepared for the work force.
