VOGO Sport Brings Live Video To In-Venue Fans Of OGC Nice Soccer

A first-league French soccer club is enhancing the live experience by enabling fans inside the stadium to live stream the game in front of them for additional vantage points and real-time replays.

OGC Nice, which stars dynamic striker Mario Balotelli, installed the VOGO-powered system prior to its home match last Sunday against Girondins de Bordeaux. Fans connected to the Wi-Fi network at the Allianz Riviera stadium are able to access the system through the venue’s app from several cameras, from which users can select a view or zoom in, replay and freeze frame.

VOGO, which has its headquarters in Montpellier, France, has previously done demonstrations at the Panasonic Open Asian Tour golf tournament and counts various rugby, judo and handball clubs and leagues among its partners.

The Allianz Riviera Stadium app, which is also starting a trial of a concession delivery service, runs in the background of the smartphone so that users can perform other functions but then return to live stream to see a key moment or replay.

Jean-Pierre Rivère, president of OGC Nice said in a release: “Thanks to this application, we are using new technologies for the benefit of the supporters. To get excited in front of a thrilling move and then to be able to enjoy watching it back again in the calm at home in front of the television, to order and to be delivered in your seat without queuing, to make the most of live statistics… It’s an extra service, on demand. It wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration with the Allianz Riviera.”

The stadium features 467 Cisco-installed HD Wi-Fi terminals that can carry up to 10,000 simultaneous high-speed connections.

“We are delighted with the collaboration with OGC Nice, which really underlines what the club strives to achieve in making its matches at the Allianz Riviera a real party for all Niçois, both young and old, before and during every match,” Patrick Florence, Managing Director of the Allianz Riviera, said in a statement. “From our side of things, we worked a lot on the technology and infrastructure, by putting spectators at the centre of our attention, to make the Allianz Riviera one of the most modern and innovative stadiums in France. This application constitutes an important stage in our desire to develop our collaboration with the club to improve the supporter experience, and this is only the beginning.”
