Communication between athletes and coaches at the University of Texas at Austin is about to become more streamlined.
The University of Texas at Austin’s athletics program announced a licensing agreement with Teamworks last week. Teamworks is a provider of collaboration and communication software that allows coaches to micromanage their players and staff members.
Coaches have the ability to send mass emails, texts or voice messages, and to schedule them in advance. That means setting a wake-up call for those players who cannot get out of bed in time for practice.
Coaches receive a full delivery report detailing when their texts were received, who opened their e-mails, and who listened to their phone messages leaving no room for excuse.
Teamworks also provides academic advisors, sports medicine personnel, and strength and conditioning coaches a way to edit team and player schedules, access secure documents and track performance data.
“With 20 varsity teams, more than 500 student-athletes, and 330-plus employees, organized communication is of the utmost importance to Texas Athletics,” said Mike Bos, associate athletics director for Information Technology. “Teamworks has had a positive impact upon three of our largest and most complex programs. We have been pleased to observe each team embrace the platform and look forward to employing the software throughout Texas Athletics.”
Teamworks was the official team collaboration software provider for the College Football Playoffs earlier this year, and over 60 college football teams already use the software. Those include some of the biggest programs in the country include Duke University, Purdue University, the University of Virginia and University of Mississippi.
“We are excited to be associated with an athletics department of the caliber of Texas Athletics,” said Zach Maurides, Teamworks founder and president. “Teamworks is proud to provide a platform to improve efficiency throughout the entire athletic department.”
Communication will be key for the richest athletics program in the country. UT just hired a new athletics director in Steve Patterson and their two biggest programs, football and basketball, have entirely new coaches and staff.
