University Of Texas And SportsLabs Unveil New Unifying Mobile App For Longhorn Fans And Students


Each and every day, college campuses are trying to find the best ways to better engage students, staff, and alumni into their communities. With today’s technology, finding the solution for ideal integration can often times be scattered across the internet, making it difficult to find the information the campus population needs. The University of Texas at Austin recognizes this issue and has partnered with SportsLabs, a leading sports technology provider, to enhance the student experience.

UT Austin students and fans will be able to download the free University of Texas at Austin app on the IOS and Android app stores. This app is the first of its kind, as it is the only app on the collegiate market that caters directly to user’s specific needs and concerns. The app initially asks users if they are a student, visitor, or general Longhorn fan and then takes them directly to a platform filled with content and features relevant to the UT individual.

“The University of Texas values the role of technology in better serving our fans and our students,” Chris Plonsky, women’s athletics director at the University of Texas, said in a press release. “The University wanted to vastly improve and expand our mobile offer for all constituents, and this new app allows us to accomplish that goal.”

For students, they can use this app as a main hub containing vital information like course schedules, account balances, where to check grades, and other student information typically given through the MyUT portal. For alumni and general fans, they will have access to social media content for all sports programs and even find audio for sports games.

Having bus stop routes, hours of operation, and even Austin event calendars makes this the perfect answer to all potential questiosn a UT visitor or fan would have. SportsLabs’ experience with running an Advanced Media Platform (AMP) makes them the prime candidate to work on an app so focused on getting users the content they need.
