TOK.tv, a social network integrated with the FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Italian Serie A team apps, has just publicized the closing of a $5 million Series A round of investment. In the last year, this company has seen an increase in number of users from 500,000 to 8 million.
In one of the most anticipated and hyped football matches of the year, Real Madrid and Barcelona will face off in El Clásico this weekend. Using the TOK Social Button on their app, fans of both teams will be able to talk to each other live and send stadium chants. For a preview of the experience, you can check out this video:
“We have seen an incredible growth in the last twelve months, thanks to the partnership with the top sport teams in the world. We are excited to bring this experience to the US, where our company is based. We know our voice platform is perfectly suited for US sports because it is where we ran our first tests: games are social by definition and there are significant opportunities to deliver advertising during pauses. We are looking forward to partnering with US teams and leagues, and have their fans enjoy matches together, even when they are far apart”, said Fabrizio Capobianco, CEO of TOK.tv.
Teams use the TOK Social Button by integrating it into their existing apps to provide a new experience for supporters. Through in-game fan engagement, TOK allows teams to monetize fans through adsyncing and branded content. This transitions engagement from traditional social media sites to assets that teams own and operate. Which helps teams provide brands the chance to run measurable campaigns.
The funds that will be raised in the Series A round will be mainly for company growth, especially in the U.S.
