A newly launched Indiegogo project called the Camile is a camera and GPS for cyclers to log their activities as well as record their rides. The Camile, based out of Hangzhou, China, includes both still photo and video capture capabilities with a 140º wide-angle lens to record in 1080pHD at 30fps or 720p at 60fps. Users can download, view, or stream their footage within seconds from any mobile device.

With Time Plan and Distance Plan, the Camile helps self motivate users with time and distance goals. It even has an alert lets users know when they’ve reached their goal. Your journey and accomplishments can then be shared with the world. The Camile aims to be individualized for its users to make it really seem like a friend on your bike. Through Training Plans with the time and progress alerts, it will feel like someone is cheering you on and motivating you up that huge incline.
The device has professional data storage as well. The Camile records GPS positioning, speed, altitude, and other data on the SD card. The card syncs with your phone and the cloud so the data is always ready to share. In addition, with a 1250mAh battery, the Camile can shoot for 3 hours or independent GPS for 16 hours. The product aims to make shooting your riding a carefree experience.
The WiFi connectivity provides live cycling data. The Smart Edit function helps crop and cut videos in a matter of seconds to be shared using the Camile App.
The Camile is better suited for cyclers than similar products like the Gopro because of its GPS capabilities. Other GPS-enabled bike computer products like Garmin’s Edge only track your routes. So the Camile seemingly has a market opportunity due to these dual capabilities.
The Camile ranges from $89 to $4080 and comes in 5 colors with a simple handlebar mount for use on a bike. The funds collected from the Indiegogo campaign will be used for production and new product development.
