Bycle doesn’t believe in using multiple apps or gadgets to do things our smartphones are already capable of doing. Instead of using Snapchat or a GoPro for documenting your bike ride, and various other apps to navigate your trip and track your fitness goals, the company is combining all of these features into one simple bike mount for your phone at a fraction of the cost, and with very little added weight. Along with the mount, a downloadable app works seamlessly to enhance the bike riding experience.
“I believe Bycle is a leap forward within the bicycle accessory market,” says Gustavo Grossmann,co-founder of Bycle. “It was simply a matter of time. People needed to enhance their phone’s capabilities, instead of buying different gadgets to do what most smartphones already do.”
The unique phone mount attaches right onto the bike’s handlebars and allows the rider to use GPS and video recording simultaneously. The water resistant mount features a prism lens that faces the camera forward while the screen still faces the rider, allowing video recording of the ride while the rider is able to use the navigation system and the fitness tracker. The Bycle app then combines all elements of the ride like the route, speed and distance, and fitness data such as calories burned, into one editable, shareable, video to other Bycle users.

“Bycle’s mount and app combined will allow every bike rider to enhance their routes with a seamless integration of video, maps and more,” says Miguel Hidalgo, co-founder of Bycle.”By integrating both products, riders can create interactive experiences they couldn’t share before.”
The Bycle mount is being released for iPhone 6, 6s, 6 plus and 6s plus starting July 14, 2016 and shipment is expected to start in September. Not to worry if you’re an Android or other smart phone user, however, Bycle plans on releasing mounts and apps for different phones and operating systems later in the year.
At $45 for the S-Mount and $70 for the E-Mount that charges your phone while you’re riding, this is poised to be one of the cheapest and most useful gadgets you may buy for your bike all year.
