San Francisco-based Gametime offers a new way to get a seat. With this week’s release of their updated app for Android and iOS, Gametime gives fans the ability to purchase last minute tickets without the need to print. Using a “pull to refresh” feature, fans will see available tickets in real-time. This means no longer worrying about reaching the end of checkout only to find that the tickets have already been purchased. If users have a problem, they are refunded 115 percent of their purchase.
“We did some math based on past purchases and created an algorithm that finds the best tickets by price and location. In the app we only show you the 25 best options, not an impossibly long list with thousands of listings. The goal is to help fans quickly find the best options so they can go have fun at the game. We live in a world of instant gratification and Gametime wants to be the ultimate tool for this world,” said Brad Griffith, Gametime ‘s Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
MLB, NFL, NCAA, NBA, NHL, and MLS games are all included in the Gametime app. Fans can currently buy tickets to 60 participating venues in 22 cities across the country. Before you pick your seat, Gametime even shows a beautiful high-resolution image of the view from the location. But why would teams offer last minute ticket deals?

“The secret that few people think about is that tickets are expiring assets. Perishable inventory is the most fascinating attribute of many new marketplaces today Airbnb (nights in your apartment), Hotel Tonight (empty hotel rooms), Uber and Lyft (cars without passengers). Like other assets, tickets that are not sold are essentially worth nothing at some point so prices change as event time nears. This creates a big opportunity for both teams and fans to fill these seats with an ondemand mobile platform.
