Tampa Bay Lightning Use Venuetize, Make Amalie Arena Mobile-Friendly

The Tampa Bay Lightning have the best record in the NHL heading into the All-Star Game on their home ice at Amalie Arena. And just in time for the weekend of festivities, the Lightning announced that the arena will be updated for the mobile world.

Enlisting the services of Tampa-based startup Venuetize, the team created a new Amalie Arena app through which fans can pay for concessions and merchandise and season ticket holders can access and transfer their tickets and discounts. JPMorgan Chase card holders can earn $25 in arena cash if they upload a credit or debit card.

While the mobile wallet feature is highly touted, fans can also use the app to search for events; buy, use, or forward tickets; and opt into arena upgrades and experiences.

“Forward-thinking organizations like the Tampa Bay Lightning and Amalie Arena realize that mobile is the best platform for enhancing and personalizing their guests’ experiences,” Karri Zaremba, the co-founder and chief operating officer of Venuetize, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be part of their next-generation mobile strategy, to help them achieve measurable, operational cost savings, and to power their ability to deliver the services their guests demand and expect.”

By updating Amalie Arena and its app, the Lightning join a growing number of teams across the United States to offer mobile-first experiences at their home venues. The Portland Trail Blazers, for example, used Venuetize to upgrade their mobile app.

Lightning fans can download the new Amalie Arena app onto their Apple or Android devices and watch their team soar towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs while enjoying the new mobile experience.
