Sportsrocket launched a new platform last month called Sportsrocket Turbine that will allow broadcast rights-holders to share content across various digital platforms. The program will allow distribution companies to show content on all social media platforms including YouTube, Periscope, Twitch and Facebook. The Arena Football League used Sportsrocket to broadcast its opening weekend starting April 7.
The streaming service enables simultaneous live streaming via a single feed to every major social platform within the platform’s native player. Turbine does not require users to sign a long-term contract. It can be used for a full season or licensed for specific events.
Sportsrocket’s new live syndication technology was launched during the Formula Drift Streets of Long Beach in California.
“Sports fans, especially the younger ones, consume content on the platforms they already inhabit and rarely go to destinations anymore,” Sportsrocket founder and CEO Brian Bedol said in a statement. “Turbine was created to offer rights-holders the ability to easily reach fans, like home delivery for sports.”

For Formula Drift fans, Turbine gives a look into the behind-the-scenes of the race, drivers and cars.
“This is the most powerful syndication tool I’ve ever seen,” Vice president and co-founder of Formula Drift Ryan Sage said in a statement. “We need to reach our fans all over the world and make it as easy as possible for them to watch Formula Drift. Sportsrocket Turbine is a game-changer!”
Sportsrocket allowed the event in Long Beach to have nearly 1 million live stream views, a 600 percent increase from the 2016 event.
“Turbine was a tremendous success during its first engagement,” Bedol said. “It’s a powerful syndication tool created to address the challenge of reaching fans where they already consume content, rather than asking them to travel to a new destination . Sportsrocket changes the playing field, offering forward-thinking rights-holders like the AFL the ability to distribute easily, broadly, and profitably.”
