New York, NY. – TPG Sports Group will host the fourth annual Sports Tank event on May 1-3, 2018 in New York City. This event provides startups in the sports and entertainment space with the opportunity to pitch their company to strategic venture capitalists and world-class sports industry executives. In 2017, over 275 companies applied for Sports Tank from 22 different countries.

Each company at Sports Tank has three minutes to pitch and 10 minutes to negotiate with investors and the sports advisory panel. The insight given by both the investment panel as well as the advisory panel during these meaningful discussions has established Sports Tank as the premiere event for entrepreneurs within the sports industry.

“Sports Tank separates itself from others in the industry based on the unique combination of sports industry executives and sports specific venture investors – all together in one event. The Next Gen Arena is also becoming the place to be for early stage sports tech companies. I’m proud to be part of Sports Tank and look forward to the event each year to learn about the latest sports innovations,” said Brian Kopp, Founder at Stretch 4 Advisory.

In addition to Sports Tank, TPG Sports Group has expanded the Next Gen Arena which will be hosted the day prior to Sports Tank. This opportunity gives early stage startups the ability to present their businesses privately to venture capitalists, sports executives, as well as many special guests in the sports industry. Two of the Next Gen Arena startups will be awarded the opportunity to pitch their business live, onstage at Sports Tank.

“Last year FanWide participated in the Sports Tank’s Next Gen Arena, and we had the opportunity to meet dozens of sports technology investors and influencers,” said Symon Perriman, President & Founder, FanWide. “It was one of the most worthwhile events that we have participated in, we are now in discussions about the possibility of an investment with Sports Tank sponsor, the football co., and were invited to Germany to pitch in the leAD sports accelerator.”

The deadline to apply for Sports Tank is March 10, 2018. TPG Sports Group will then review each application and select five finalists to pitch at Sports Tank. Those five will be invited to New York City, all-expenses-paid, to pitch their business at Sports Tank.

Past investment panels have shown representation from Hickory VC, Rosecliff Ventures, Courtside Ventures, and Full Stack Ventures. The Sports Tank advisory panel has included Tom Shine (XIX Entertainment), Samita Mannapperuma (NBC Sports Group), Kevin Pritchard (Indiana Pacers), and Lesley Eccles (FanDuel), among others.
