Sony’s PlayStation Vue To Now Include NFL Network & NFL Redzone

Last year, 199 million viewers watched a game in the 2015 NFL regular season. That number represents 78 percent of all television homes and 67 percent of potential U.S. viewers.

Football has been climbing the ladder for years on its way to dethroning the MLB as America’s past time. With increased popularity, systems such as Xbox One have made keeping up with your favorite NFL teams easy.

Now Sony is entering the mix.

You better make sure your PlayStation controllers are fully charged, because today, NFL Media announced its agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment to distribute NFL Network and NFL RedZone programming via PlayStation Vue.

PlayStation Vue, the Internet-based live TV service, plans on streaming the NFL Network and NFL RedZone programming just in time for the beginning of the regular season.

Over 100 top live sports, movies and TV channels have already been available on PlayStation Vue for some time. AMC Networks, CBS, Discovery Communications, Disney/ABC Television Group, ESPN, Fox, NBC Universal, Scripps Networks Interactive, Turner Broadcasting and Viacom are all accessible through Vue on your mobile or paid provider devices.

NFL Network is another arsenal on PlayStation Vue’s Swiss Army Knife-like repertoire.

“The NFL is constantly looking to serve our fans premium NFL content where and how they want to see it,” said Hans Schroeder, Senior Vice President, Media Strategy, Business Development, & Sales for the NFL. “We’re excited to offer NFL Network and NFL RedZone through PlayStation Vue, an innovative platform that will provide fans yet another option for keeping up with the Network’s 24/7 NFL coverage and catching RedZone’s action-packed Sunday afternoon experience.”

NFL Network is a 365 day marathon of all the football you can handle – and for fans like myself, we can handle it 24/7. It covers the breaking stories, headlines and news across the league and much more. Since its start in 2003, NFL Network has grown exponentially as it now includes the NFL Scouting Combine, Draft, training camps, Preseason, Regular Season, Playoffs and the granddaddy of them all, the Super Bowl.

For the first time, NFL Network will also provide Thursday Night Football games to its already packed lineup which includes: GameDay Morning, A Football Life, TIMELINE and other valuable fantasy football coverage all at the push of your PlayStation controller’s buttons.l

As the season inches closer, NFL RedZone will also be live every Sunday bringing every touchdown and big moment from all the games across the NFL. Cutting from stadium to stadium, RedZone keeps fans updated on every scoring play and even goal line situations.

“Sports is among the most-watched content on PlayStation Vue, and we’re pleased to add two highly coveted sports networks, NFL Network and NFL RedZone, to the service for football fans to enjoy nationwide,” said Dwayne Benefield, vice president, head of PlayStation Vue. “We’re proud to be able to deliver a unique TV viewing experience through PlayStation Vue with our groundbreaking interface and cloud-based technology, and our agreement with NFL Media allows fans to experience the upcoming football season like never before.”

As a PlayStation user, you will also be granted access to Watch NFL Network, the NFL app and NFL Mobile after subscribing to NFL Network and NFL RedZone.

Three peas in a pod: NFL RedZone, NFL Network and PlayStation Vue. Making football this easy to obtain is a first for Sony, but the payoff could be as satisfying as lifting the Lombardi Trophy – and man does it shine.
