Sling TV launched its channel for NBA TV on Wednesday, giving basketball fans and cord-cutters yet another option to stream the network as the development came five days after PlayStation Vue launched its own NBA TV channel.
The addition of NBA TV’s slate of live games and original content has also revealed how there is a true competition between Sling TV and PlayStation Vue.
PlayStation Vue announced on Thursday that NBA TV was coming, and within hours, Sling TV executives responded with tweets that it too would carry the channel.
You want more @NBA? You got it! @NBATV is on its way to @Sling very soon. Check back at https://t.co/QYnS5oyhm4 for launch details.

The mention of Viacom channels is in reference to PlayStation Vue dropping Viacom-owned networks such as Comedy Central and MTV while announcing the addition of NBA TV, VICE, and BBC America.
Sling TV will carry those channels along with NBA TV and other ways to watch basketball, including ESPN, ABC, ESPN3. NBA TV is available in the “Sports Extra” pack for an extra $5 for subscribers of either Sling Orange or Sling Blue service.
“Today’s addition of NBA TV also means that you can catch practically every professional sport on our service, including football, hockey, soccer, baseball and now, basketball,” Ankit Bishnoi, Sling TV’s head of content acquisition and strategy, wrote in a blog post.
