The NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship on Sunday will mark the debut of SkyCam’s SkyCommand patent-pending technology that controls the aerial camera as the game will be streaming live on the ESPN app.
Using SkyCommand remote technology, the aerial camera can be controlled by a pilot that is in Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass while the camera operator located in Los Angeles can provide the camera pan, tilt, angle, zoom and focus controls.

With a secure link, the camera system can be controlled safely and reliably in a stadium or arena for an event from a centrally-located remote SkyCam studio center away from where the action is taking place.
“In the same manner as current leagues review action on the fields, courts or ice, SkyCommand allows for remote technology processing that includes our uniquely identifiable WildCat camera angle, as well as key SkyCam production enhancements, to oversee multiple events from a remote location,” Stephen Wharton, the Chief Technical Officer of SkyCam, said in a statement.”This technology creates the same response, speed, performance, communications and safety that a pilot and operator would experience on site.”
SkyCommand was first introduced to the television industry at the National Association of Broadcasters trade show. The idea behind SkyCommand was creating a company that had the technological advancements to bring together fans from around the world and give them a more compelling way to view their favorite sports.
