ShotTracker, a company that makes a wearable technology that follows and maps a basketball player’s shot attempts, announced an official partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today.

The NABC is an organization comprised of men’s college basketball coaches, with a Board of Directors hosting names like Kansas’ Bill Self and Kentucky’s John Calipari.

The partnership will mean that ShotTracker is the “Official Wearable Technology” of the NABC, and the tracker should be more commonplace around college basketball programs. ShotTracker looks to be most useful for players to improve and measure themselves in the offseason.

The company, which recently partnered with Klay Thompson for a virtual basketball camp, even took a survey of NABC coaches, seeing where ShotTracker could come in for their players once the season has ended. According to their survey, only 48 percent of coaches were satisfied with how much their players improved in the offseason. Additionally, 91 percent of those coaches wish they had more visibility to how their players are practicing in the offseason.

The ShotTracker technology makes all the statistics of a player’s training sessions readily available through the ShotTracker app. Two different sensors wirelessly connect to a mobile device, which collects and analyzes all shot attempt data.

One sensor is a wearable wrist device and the other latches onto the net. All statistics are stored and the player can measure how they have progressed.

This is the complete tool for a coach that can let players practice on their own time, but still keep them accountable and improving.

The system is currently available on ShotTracker’s website for $149.99. Comparable technologies like Hoop Tracker are similarly priced.
