ShotTracker And Klay Thompson Continue Partnership With Virtual Basketball Camp

Following notable success last year, ShotTracker has once again teamed up with NBA shooting guard Klay Thompson to launch their second annual Virtual Basketball Camp. The camp launched on July 10th, and will run until the 24th.

ShotTracker manufactures wearable tech for basketball players, and grew from the simple premise of tracking the ball as it’s shot. The technology uses two sensors, one which is placed inside a wristband or shooting sleeve, and one which attaches to the hoop itself. From this, the sensors work in tandem to provide instant updates to the ShotTracker mobile app.

Above all else, the idea is that this enables players to track progress in a more targeted and measured manner, as would be the case for professionals like Klay Thompson.

As part of crucial offseason preparation, the camp involves two weeks of Thompson’s favorite workouts and shooting drills. Every other day, these are released through the ShotTracker app. But while the camp itself is free, to have the chance of winning prizes in the competition, players must use the ShotTracker device.

The camp, which focuses heavily on individual progress, essentially mirrors the principles of the company itself- regardless of playing standard, practice is paramount. Indeed, Thompson echoes this ethos. “You’ve got to put in the hours, no matter the level you’re playing at, and this camp is a fun way to do that while competing with players everywhere.”

Certainly, from purely a business standpoint, Klay Thompson’s endorsement makes total sense for ShotTracker. He is, after all, considered one of the standout shooters in the NBA. Moreover, the incentive of signed gear will undoubtedly promote sales.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the camp is organised to seamlessly partner social media. Not only has the catchy #PlayLikeKlay hashtag been profusely scattered around Twitter and Instagram, but a lengthy Google Hangout video (shows above) of the Warriors’ player answering questions has also circulated. With just under a week left, competition is heating up.
