1. What is your elevator pitch?

Sharp Sports Analytics combines a unique understanding of advanced analytics along with an intricate understanding of sports. We’ve written code alongside some of statistics’ finest and have paced the sidelines with some of football’s best. It is this unique perspective on sports that allows us to identify trends and angles giving sports fans unique insights into their favorite sports teams.

2. Problem & Solution

With the availability of sports data drastically increasing in the past decade, fans are left to fend for themselves when deciding what they should look at. We empower fans to understand the games and teams they love by using statistical methods to determine the root causes of winning and losing a contest. Our podcast, blog, and tools provide an analytical framework, much like a stock trading platform does, to help fans increase their sports knowledge.

3. Market – your target market and the overall market

The sports community at large. Anyone from the casual sports fan who wants to understand sports statistic better to the Sabermetrician. Additionally, given the predictive accuracy of some of our models, the sports gambling crowd also takes a strong interest in what we produce.

4. Business Model – how do you make money?

Quoting the character from Silicon Valley, Russ Hanneman, “No revenue.” The concept is to offer insightful information that the sports community will find interesting and valuable. By generating useful tools and information the money side of things will take care of itself.

5. Management Team – with titles

Jordan Sundheim – CEO & Founder

Vivek Subramanian – CTO & Co-Founder

David Hoffman – COO

6. What else do you want the audience to know about your venture?

Sharp Sports Analytics is part of the big data revolution. From automated data collection methods to the real time algorithms that we are developing, SSA is capitalizing on advances in technology. The prevalence of quality open source programs such as WordPress, PostgreSQL, and R, empower people to execute projects they are passionate about. Relying on the open source community and a deep understanding of statistical methods, SSA is able to pursue its passion outside of a traditional corporate structure. This means we get to build fun stuff and tools our users want. We have some really exciting things in the works that we’ll be releasing this fall.
