SILVER SPRING, MD – January 8, 2016 – The Sports Tech Conference and Marketplace presented by the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) gained prominence earlier this week at CES®2016 in Las Vegas.
Doubling its footprint from 2015, the Sports Tech Marketplace captured the attention of many of the show’s 170,000 attendees from around the world and showcased some of the sports and fitness industry’s most technologically advanced products including Easton Baseball/Softball’s new EASTON Power Sensor with Motion by Blast and Motus Global’s portfolio of biomechanical products and services.
“This was Easton Baseball’s first year participating in the SFIA Sports Tech Marketplace at CES,” said Dan Beamer, Vice President of Product and Marketing, Easton Baseball. “This premium global event provided our brand and our new Easton Power Sensor with top-tier exposure to a wide variety of audiences, including major media outlets, consumers and retail partners. By creating an engaging and interactive exhibit that included a batting cage for participants to try the Easton Power Sensor, we provided a powerful brand experience that proved to be an effective and fun showcase that significantly elevated our product launch. We look forward to participating again in the future.”
Over the course of the half-day speaking program held on January 7, the Sports Tech Conference highlighted advancements in sports technology & training tools such as virtual reality and related analytics that are aiding coaches in delivering high performance athletes at the professional and collegiate levels. Sports media personalities and executives from leading sports properties and brands such as former NFL quarterback and ESPN personality Trent Dilfer, Prince Tennis’ Vice President of Product Marketing Tyler Herring, and University of Tennessee’s Director of Football Operations, Chris Spognardi, were on-hand to fuel a dynamic discussion on the workings and usage of their respective product offerings.
The speakers all expressed great optimism that new sports technologies will not only enhance the skill level and performance of current players through tangible data sets but could drive participation in sports simply through the “fun and cool” elements the advances offer.
“In our second year as a partner of CES, we have seen a significant rise in the number of companies within the sport & fitness industry that are integrating sports and technology,” said Tom Cove, SFIA President & CEO. “Baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis, golf, running, fitness, you name it—many manufacturers are seeing the importance of playing in this space and SFIA is pleased to be a catalyst for connecting them to consumers of all ages and skill levels by participating in CES,” concluded Cove.
