San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey is himself the subject of some good trivia: His real name is Gerald Dempsey Posey III; he once played all nine positions in the same game while at Florida State; and he is one of only three catchers, along with Yankees great Thurman Munson and Reds Hall of Famer Johnny Bench, to win Rookie of the Year, MVP and a World Series.
As of this month, Posey is now the host of Full Count Baseball Trivia, a daily contest appearing as an Amazon Alexa Skill and produced by Ground Control in partnership with Creative Artists Agency. Posey and an announcer offer a half-dozen questions per day, all 365 days of the year; respondents have 10 seconds to guess the correct answer and ascend a rankings leaderboard up seven levels, from rookie to minor Leaguer, major leaguer and the Hall of Fame (which, incidentally, is Posey’s current trajectory through nine seasons with the Giants).
Posey and the co-host not only ask the questions but are said to engage in “comedic mix of friendly encouragement and snarky banter.”
“This unique audio platform is an exciting way to bring the history and game of baseball to life,” Posey said in a statement. “The interactivity is a really fun concept that I think fans of baseball will really enjoy, and it was an honor to lend my voice to project.”

Posey’s game is one of five so far produced by the Ground Control team, all featuring clients of the multi-industry CAA: former Vice President Joe Biden, comedian Mike Epps, Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns and San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers are the others.
This is the latest in a string of national exposures for the 30-year-old Giants catcher, who has also appeared in commercials for Esurance, Toyota and Topps, among others. The Amazon trivia game is not Posey’s first foray into tech, as his work with Esurance this summer included a virtual reality experience and he contributed to a mobile app Marucci and Diamond Kinetics launched this spring in conjunction with their sensor-embedded smart bat.
