The San Francisco 49ers and 30sec.io have partnered to launch a platform that delivers curated team-related audio to smart home devices and connected vehicles.
The 30sec platform stitches together live sports stories based on trending data to create “30sec Sports Stories — quick-paced and short narratives that allow fans to receive the most current news and have their questions answered using their voices. To hear these stories, all fans need to do is ask. For example, a fan could say: “Give me 49ers news update in 30sec.”
“We are always looking at new innovations to enhance the fan experience and the 30sec platform will provide fans with a tech-forward way for fans to receive audio updates on the 49ers,” 49ers Vice President of Corporate Partnerships Brent Schoeb said in a statement.

30sec does this by analyzing real-time content using artificial intelligence and machine learning powered by a proprietary system that analyzes real-time signals to prioritize relevant sports information in response to fan requests. The system then incorporates and analyzes statistical data and voice clips from players, coaches, and news personalities and assembles them into a comprehensive response to the fan’s request.
In addition to the short stories, exclusive content from the 49ers Studios Team will be included. The stories will include interviews from players and coaches and will be organized into narratives around the biggest news for a team that went 2-14 last season and lost in its season opener.
“30sec chose the San Francisco 49ers because of their constant drive to push the ball forward when it comes to sports technology innovation,” Bryan McClain, 30sec Vice President of Product, said in a statement. “The 49ers are leaders in the world of sports to be the testing ground for new technology. The 49ers nurture companies building that technology until they are ready to deploy across the sports industry.”
The 49ers are the first professional sports team to introduce this system to fans and 30sec’s first sports partner.
