The Sacramento Kings recently announced a partnership with Appetize, a cloud-based point of sale platform. While they originally promised this technology to come when they moved to Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento, they implemented it now in Sleep Train Arena.
Appetize’s point-of-sale platform will allow fans to use mobile payment apps, Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and legacy systems to buy a host of items at the Kings’ arena. Through these iOS and Android apps, fans will be able to pay for regular concessions and even order remotely. Additionally, customers can pay by physical cards, and they will earn loyalty points as they use the service.
Currently, Appetize will work through smart phones and tablets that concession workers will have. While fans will eventually be able to order using apps on their own phones, that feature has not been added as of yet.

Kings President Chris Granger commented on the new deal in the press release, saying, “Our fans don’t want to miss a second of Kings basketball or world-class entertainment. Now that our concession stands have the latest technology and fans can order from their seat, they’ll spend more time enjoying the actions on the floor. We’re excited to upgrade Sleep Train Arena for our final season and then incorporate Appetize’s innovative solutions at Golden 1 Center next year.”
Another advantage that comes with Appetize is the analytical reporting that it has; for instance, there is a live inventory module that helps with having a tight control over supply.
The Kings are following in the footsteps of over 300 sports and entertainment properties that already use Appetize, including Madison Square Garden, the Miami Dolphins’ SunLife Stadium, and over 45 PGA tour venues.
