Earlier this week the Sports Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) announced that Roger Goodell will headline a panel at the SFIA Industry Leaders Summit in New Orleans in September. Goodell will be discussing topics such as sports specialization, fatigued injuries, and excessive competition and will address the challenges of getting the youth members of our society active and living a healthy lifestyle at a young age.

During Goodell’s stint as the NFL commissioner, he has focused on strengthening the foundation of the League with international expansion, player safety, and improving the fan’s NFL experience. His appearance at the SFIA will hopefully lead to further discussion about exploring what needs to be done to improve the overall sports climate in the United States and to reverse the alarming “Inactivity Pandemic”.

Tom Cove, SFIA President and CEO stated, “We are honored to have Commissioner Goodell participate in such a critical conversation with our industry executives. How we recognize and react to the challenges facing youth sports will have lasting implications for both the health of our nation and success of our industry.   We look forward to a passionate discussion about the issues and potential solutions to keep America’s young people healthy and active.”
