QLIPP, a new tennis performance sensor created by the Singapore based company, 9 Degrees Freedom, went live today on Indiegogo. The crowdfunding campaign is reported to have a funding goal of 30,000 dollars. Founded in 2012, 9 Degrees Freedom will use this campaign to finish the development of QLIPP its free mobile app that is compatible with both IOS and Android devices.

The QLIPP weighs only 8 grams, and can be applied to any tennis racquet with its “twist and lock” mechanism. It is equipped to assist players with personal measurements and video data of their individual performances. This allows users to monitor their strokes, spin, and sweet spot accuracy. Along with the device, the QLIPP app gives players hands on access to save, compare, and dissect their performances. The QLIPP app even provides voice feedback during in-match sessions so that users can improve their game on the fly. In addition, the QLIPP app also can video record the user’s sessions, so that players can watch their swings in full speed or slow-motion to more accurately pinpoint their mistakes.

With QLIPP each time the ball strikes the racket data is transferred to the user’s IOS or Android app. This is beneficial to the user because it give players a timely update on their actions. So, players can then analyze which parts of their game need improvement, and make adjustments right away. The QLIPP is a device that is accessible to any type of tennis player, and will aim to improve each player’s specific deficiencies.

Donny Soh, co-founder at QLIPP stated in a press release today, “Players using QLIPP will be able to improve their game by having shot insights that have never been available before. It’s like having your own personal tennis coach with you every time you take the court. By knowing how you are hitting the ball, you can have the knowledge needed to help maximize each stroke.” QLIPP essentially can serve as a training tool to the professional or casual player.

The retail price of the QLIPP is reportedly $129. But, there will be discounted sales for the device including the $79 Early Bird Special, the 99$ discounted price immediately after the early bird, and the Coaches Package that will include five QLIPPs for $375.
