Polar, a heart rate data provider for many teams and athletes around the world, launched a new sports coaching solution hardware that consists of sensors that enable quick data transferring and a dock that results in quick charging times. At 38 grams, it claims to be the world’s lightest all-in-one sensor that combines GPS capabilities with motion tracking and heart rate.

On top of those capabilities, the new device, dubbed the Polar Team Pro, allows users to measure speed, distance and acceleration as well. The data can then be transferred to an iPad within a 200-meter range via Bluetooth using the aforementioned sensors.

With the ability to provide objective data, one can get instant analysis with detailed statistics and comparisons between athletes. Coaches can use this technology to get the most out of their workouts and prevent injuries. The product’s web service also produces deeper analysis of the team’s performance and long-term progress, which can be shared among the coaching staff with ease.

Player’s can also connect their Polar wearables with the Polar Team Pro web service to have the ability to look at a player’s overall 24/7 activity, which can tell a coach more about their player’s sleep, recovery status and activities outside of training.

All athletes and coaches are looking for any competitive edge they can get their hands on to improve their performance. This is just the latest example of professional teams utilizing technology, and more specifically, wearables to make the push for a championship.
