For the first time, PGA TOUR fans will choose a featured pairing in the first round of a tournament at the 2014 Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

From now through Dec. 30, voting will take place on PGATour.Com’s Social Hub to determine which of three players will be paired with defending champion Dustin Johnson as well the 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott, 2012 FedExCup champion, Brandt Snedeker and six-time PGA Tour winner, Matt Kuchar.

The Hyundai Tournament of Champions returns to The Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii from Jan. 2-6, 2014.

Fans can vote by visiting PGA Tour Social Hub until Dec. 30 and the pairings will be revealed on Jan. 1, 2014. Fans can also track the real-time results on the Social Hub to see which player holds the lead.

“It’s exciting to be the first tournament on the PGA TOUR that allows fans to pick a pairing,” said Nancy Cross, executive director of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. “Our fans are an integral part of the tournament’s success, and we can’t wait for them to show up to see if their vote is paired with Dustin Johnson.”

“The ‘Hyundai You Pair the Pros’ program is building a deeper level of social engagement with fans, allowing them to be more involved in their favorite sport,” said Hyundai Vice President of Marketing Steve Shannon. “We’re excited to be the first tournament on the PGA TOUR with this type of fan involvement and can’t wait to see it come to life at the tournament next month.”

“Hopefully this is just the start of getting fans really engaged,” said Steve Shannon, vice president of marketing for Hyundai Motors America. “This is the way people communicate these days and it’s perfectly in line with the way people are using social media.”

To cast a vote, fans can simply send a tweet containing the hashtag #VoteScott, #VoteKuchar or #VoteSneds. Votes are aggregated and counted in the PGA TOUR’s Social Hub.

“We know that people have an appetite for golf content 365 days a year,” Shannon said. “Plus, with the smaller field made up of nothing but champions, this is just another way to add to the uniqueness of this event.”
