Global sportswear brand Nike has launched a service which helps consumers heavily customize their sneakers. The service, called NIKEiD Direct Studio, is underpinned by augmented video mapping and consumers can live design their sneaker.
It has been created in partnership SmartPixels, a Paris-based company that has helped launched the experience at Nike Store locations in that city and also at Niketown London.
Consumers use a touchscreen interface to begin the process. They are presented with an all-white sneaker and from there can select different colors and materials for their customizable shoe.
Before finalizing the sneaker, they can review the design and once approved, it is then put into production at the NIKEiD factory. Currently, the Nike Air Force 1 iD is the only sneaker available to customize but Nike does plan to offer more shoe styles in the near future.
