NHL Network Latest Sports Channel To Launch On Sling TV

Sling TV became the first over-the-top provider to offer NHL Network, enabling live games to be streamed on televisions when the channel launched Wednesday.

NHL Network will offer more than 75 matchups to Sling TV customers, including the New York Rangers facing the Washington Capitals on Oct. 22 and the Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic between the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 23 and the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins taking on the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 29.

“With hockey season already in full-swing, diehard fans are donning their jerseys and Sling TV makes it easy and affordable to watch NHL Network wherever they are, so they don’t miss a single slap shot,” Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch said in a statement. “As the premier streaming destination for sports, we continue to offer fans nationwide the games they can’t live without, whether they love soccer, college football, pro football, MLB playoffs, the NCAA basketball tournament and now NHL hockey.”

NHL Network also has studio shows, interviews, highlights and analysis from a variety of hockey insiders and former players.

“NHL Network brings you full coverage of can’t-miss games, analysis and more, whether you’re at home or on-the-go,” wrote Ankit Bishnoi, Sling TV’s head of content acquisition and strategy.

“With the NHL regular season already upon us, we knew dedicated hockey fans couldn’t wait any longer to keep up with their favorite teams. That’s why Sling TV added NHL Network to our “Sports Extra” pack for Sling Orange and Sling Blue customers, bringing even more pro sports to our service. As a dedicated Avalanche fan, I’m thrilled to finally be able to watch my team while I’m away from Colorado.”

NHL Network is available on Sling TV’s “Sports Extra” package, which costs $5 per month with a Sling Orange subscription or $10 per month with a Sling Blue subscription.

NHL games can also be found on Sling TV on NBC Sports, NBC and Fox Sports Regional Networks in select markets.
