New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony’s Melo7 Tech Partners is investing in the new Wine n Dine app that is attempting to cut out the middleman and make food decisions a little easier. The app arithmetically chooses the best food, wine and restaurants in more than 6,000 cities and 70,000 restaurants worldwide.
Users are able to comment and share restaurant and food recommendations with friends. The app also has a “Wanna Try” button where people can save restaurants and dishes. It also has an “Explore” feature that shows nearby restaurants.
Though the app was founded in 2015 in New York City, the app was launched to users Wednesday. Melo7 Tech Partners is a business focused on early-stage technology companies co-founded by Anthony, one of the investors in Wine n Dine. The app has a total of $2.5 million in investments.
“Wine n Dine is kind of the Instagram of food and wine,” Anthony said in a video shot at the opening of Michael White’s Vaucluse that Wine n Dine hosted last year. “I mean you don’t have to look at nobody’s face on Wine n Dine, you’re just looking at food. You’re looking at wine.”

Anthony said that his interest in wine started about 10 years before the video was made. Melo7 Tech Partners co-founder Stuart Goldfarb said in an interview with ESPN.com that wine is one of their common interests.
“I love wine, too, and he’s taught me a great deal,” Stuart said. “When we first started hanging out together, we talked a lot about business and technology, which I’ve always been interested in. I’ve been casually making small investments in technology companies for many years. Melo really wanted to start doing the same, so we decided to invest together in a more serious way.”
The Wine n Dine app can be downloaded for free on iOS devices.
