Duke Athletics announced that it has chosen the SAP HANA platform and NTT DATA’s Analytics to integrate into its upcoming basketball season. The new technology will help take the men’s basketball data and apply the most powerful and intuitive data visualization tools in all of college sports. This new technology partnership will bring current team data and historical player data with a mobile and web app to Blue Devil fans everywhere.
The mobile and web app was developed by a group of MBA students at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business, along with SAP and NTT DATA. The visual web application will allow fans all over the world to interact with the team’s historical record books. The in-memory capabilities of the app, provided by SAP HANA, provide decades of Duke basketball history in an instant.
“We always have and always will look to be a leader in the digital space because that’s what our student-athletes and fans deserve,” Director of Digital Media for Duke Athletics, Ryan Craig, said. “We’re looking forward to providing the greater Duke community with the ability to engage in our history and tradition like never before.”
The new technology is part of a multi-phase project for Duke Athletics to develop a tool that is “by Duke fans, for Duke fans.” The application will provide the most complete archive of historical team data in college sports today; and provide unique fan engagement opportunities for all Cameron Crazies.
