Gametime, a company that specializes in last minute ticket sales, recently released a new feature to make buying and selling tickets to sporting events and concerts through their mobile app even easier. The new feature is called “Snap and Sell”, and it makes ticket exchange as simple as sending a picture.
Geared with technology similar to that used to upload checks in a mobile banking app, “Snap and Sell” allows users to sell traditional printed tickets through their mobile devices. The steps for selling a ticket are very straightforward. Users simply take a picture of the ticket using the camera on their smartphone or mobile device, and the app’s “optical character technology” will upload all relevant ticket information into the marketplace automatically, without any data entry from the user. The app even prices the ticket based on both the other supply of tickets and the demand for the ticket. The app then automatically adjusts the pricing in different surges depending on the market, making sure the ticket is always competitively priced.

The developers want to make it easier to move unused tickets to other fans who wish to attend the event. They stated that up to 18 percent of tickets to a sold-out event go unused, but with “snap and sell” making ticket transfer easier for sellers, the number of unused tickets will go down.

So just how much easier is selling tickets through “Snap and Sell”? The company calculated that when using most ticket selling mobile sites, it takes sellers around 75 taps’ worth of data entry to sell a printed ticket. With “Snap and Sell” it only takes 3 taps to get a ticket listed on the market.
The convenience of the new feature is intended to make it easier to find tickets to major events, even at the last minute. In fact, tickets will actually stay listed on the market for up to 60 minutes after the event has started. The company has sold tickets for over 400 venues so far, and with the app being downloaded by more than 1.5 million people, “Snap and Sell” may become the best way to buy and sell event tickets.
