It’s LeBron James’ world, and we and the NBA, are simply living in it.
The NBA released an update of its official app last week for the start of the preseason, featuring game scores and schedules, highlight videos and league news. It also allows you to choose the specific teams and players you want to follow.
Just like us, James likes to check out the NBA box scores on his phone, and just like you and me, sometimes he isn’t completely satisfied by the apps set up and function. However, unlike us, the Cleveland Cavaliers star has the ability to express his complaints and get results.

Dime Magazine agreed with James’ complaints, stating that when scrolling trough the box score, the categories don’t stay of the page making it so you only see a bunch of numbers with no context.
A SportTechie test of the app came to the same conclusion. The pure amount of statistics shown on the page is hard to follow when you do not have the category the numbers fit into.

In response to James’ tweet, the NBA confirmed that it has its development team working on the app and that the box score section will be improved.
It is unclear whether the box score feature will be changed now or not until the next update is available, but it is in the works.

UPDATE: By the end of the day, the NBA released an update to the app and this note about what’s new:
“We appreciate your feedback and we’re always looking to improve the NBA app. This release includes a box score update for better navigation and other performance enhancements.”
